Position: NewLifeKids Ministry Director

Location: Wayland MI

Reports to: Lead Pastor

Direct Reports: None

Objective: To lead an effective and dynamic kids ministry from Infant through 5th grade

Spiritual Gifts Needed: Serving; Giving; Encouraging; Exhorting; Teaching; Shepherding

Part Time: 20 Hours

Position Overview:

The Kids Ministry Director is responsible for all aspects of ensuring the spiritual growth of kids from Birth

to 5 th grade. This includes volunteer recruitment and development, implementation of safety procedures,

periodic special events, classroom management, and operational management necessary to ensure

successful and constantly improving weekend kids services.

● Maintains a healthy and vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ that includes the

consistent practice of the spiritual disciplines

● Maintains a reputation of unquestioned integrity

● Required to be a Covenant Member of the Zero Collective abiding by all the expectations inherent

with that

● Be teachable, respectful, humble and willing to be held accountable

● Seeks to work in collaboration with others to achieve desired goals

Professional Qualifications:

● A track record of being able to recruit, develop and manage leaders and volunteers

● Strong administrative, organizational and computer skills

● Be a self-starter with drive, passion and initiative

● Excellent relational skills

● Ability to communicate a vision and rally individuals to see a preferred future of ministry

● Demonstrate strong leadership and ability to set and achieve goals

● A minimum 2 years proven track record of effective Kids Ministry leadership preferred

● Bachelor’s degree in Christian Leadership, Kids Ministry/Discipleship or related field preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

● Recruit, train, equip and hold accountable a team of consistent and effective volunteers to lead

kids as they take next steps in their faith journey with Jesus Christ.

● Execute biblically accurate, culturally relevant, and high energy services for kids

● Ensure all Kids Ministry policies and safety guidelines are carried out and enforced, including

child check in/out procedures

● Maintain logistical needs involved with volunteers including background checks, scheduling

nametags, updating contact information, sign-ups, and coaching

● Effectively communicate with parents regarding the Kids Ministry

● Oversee and evaluate the weekly program needs of Kids Ministry

● Give oversight to areas such as background checks and security measures to ensure a safe and

secure Kids Ministry area

● Design and plan periodic child dedication services as required

● Lead the creative use and proactive upkeep of Kids Ministry area

● Maintain and help develop the budget for the Kids Ministry

● Assist in the development of the budget for the Kids Ministry department

● Troubleshoot in service dynamics such as room ration, behavior issues, special needs of kids

● Create and manage a ministry calendar that will drive the activities and teaching of the Kids

Ministry

● Design, plan and conduct periodic parent meetings in order to meet the needs and expectations

of families of kids

● Attend staff and department head meetings and retreats as requested

● Participate in regular worship services as requested

● Other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor.
